Historic Alexandria Virginia - A Commuters Dream!
The history of Alexandria, Virginia, begins with the first European settlement in 1695. Over the next century, the town became a significant port, George Washington called it home, and Thomas Jefferson entertained at Gatsby's Tavern. In 1801, much of Alexandria was swept into the new District of Columbia but was later returned to Virginia, along with the rest of the District's territory on the west side of the Potomac River in 1846.
Today, Alexandria is a vibrant, diverse, independent city that offers a wide array of home styles from very narrow town homes on cobblestone streets in the Old Town section of the city, to the colonial style homes of Rosemont and more modern style apartment style homes of the West End. What's your style ?
